Getting started

How do I get my first transcript?

Create an account, click New transcript, and drop in a file. You see the price before anything runs, and you get an email when it is ready. Your $3 sign-up credit covers about 100 minutes of audio.

Which file types and sizes work?

Most audio and video formats: MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, MP4, MOV, WEBM and more, up to 2 GB per file. For video we only use the audio track.

Can I email a recording instead of uploading?

Yes. Every project has a private email address. Forward a recording to it from an address you have allowed, and the transcript is emailed back when it is done as a link, inline text or an attachment, whichever you choose in the project settings.

Which languages are supported?

English is fully supported. More than 30 other languages are detected automatically; you can also set the language per project or per file.

Accuracy and editing

How accurate is it?

On clear recordings, typically above 95% of words are right before you touch anything. Crosstalk, heavy accents, poor microphones and specialist vocabulary lower that, which is exactly where the flagging helps.

What are the amber words?

Words the engine was not confident about. Each one comes with the most likely alternatives. Press Tab to jump to the next one and 1, 2 or 3 to pick, or just type the right word.

Can I teach it names and jargon?

Yes. Add a vocabulary list to a project (people, brands, technical terms) and it is used for every file in that project.

Can I undo a mistake?

Inside the editor, Ctrl+Z undoes. Every save also creates a version you can view and restore later.

Billing

How does billing work?

You buy prepaid credit in packs from $10. When a transcript finishes, its length times 3¢ per minute is deducted, billed to the second. Credit never expires.

What if a job fails?

You are not charged for failed or canceled jobs, and you can retry a failed job at no extra cost.

Can I cap my spending?

Yes. Set a monthly cap in Billing. Jobs that would push you over it are held until you raise the cap or the month rolls over. You can also set a low-balance email alert.

Do you offer refunds?

If something went wrong with a transcript, contact us and we will make it right. Unused credit can be refunded within 30 days of purchase.

Privacy and security

Can I use it for medical or health information?

Not at this time. Scribberty is not HIPAA compliant and does not sign Business Associate Agreements (BAAs). Do not upload recordings that contain protected health information (PHI): health, treatment or payment information that can be linked to an individual. That includes recordings of patient visits and therapy sessions, and calls that discuss a named person's diagnosis, care or medical bills.

If PHI is uploaded by mistake, delete the file from the app right away. A HIPAA-ready plan is on our roadmap; email us if you would like to hear when it launches.

Who can see my files?

Only members of your workspace, and anyone you send a share link to. Share links are read-only, can include or exclude the audio, can expire, and can be turned off at any time.

Do you train AI on my recordings?

No. Your audio and transcripts are used only to produce your transcript, and our transcription providers may not train on them.

How long do you keep my audio?

You decide, per project: 7 days, 30 days, a year, or until you delete it. Transcripts are kept until you delete them. Deleting a file removes the audio and every version of its transcript.
